Start right outside the door for extensive walks and hikes through blooming meadows and shady forests around Freienfeld. At the picturesque Wurmsee, you will find a fenced shoreline area where your dog can splash and romp while you enjoy the peace and the view of the Dolomites.

If you are traveling between Austria and Italy, Der Bircher is your perfect stop. Thanks to our 24-hour check-in, you can arrive at any time, sleep in, and continue your journey refreshed. Our comfortable holiday apartments offer cozy beds, a small kitchenette, and free parking right at the house.

For late arrivals, we are happy to fill the refrigerator so that the small hunger is immediately satisfied. In the morning, you can enjoy fresh coffee with croissants or our extensive breakfast buffet at "moïdls lokäischn." Upon request, we can also prepare provisions for your onward journey – so you can start your next leg of the trip relaxed.

Our bright apartments in Freienfeld offer 45–70 m² of space for 2–6 people. Lovingly preserved wooden beams meet modern kitchenettes, smart TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic terraces provide an unobstructed view of the Wipptal Valley and the Dolomites. From the North:

Take the A22/E45 motorway via the Brenner Pass. Exit at “Sterzing/Vipiteno” and follow the signs to Der Bircher.

From the East:

Follow the A22 motorway from Brixen/Bressanone toward the Brenner Pass. Exit at “Sterzing/Vipiteno” and continue on the SS 44 to reach the hotel.

By train:

From the North:

Travel to Brenner/Brennero by international or regional train, then transfer to the local line bound for Vipiteno/Sterzing. From Sterzing/Vipiteno station it’s a 5‑minute taxi or bus ride to Der Bircher.

From the East:

Take an international train to Brixen/Bressanone or Fortezza/Franzensfeste, then switch to the northbound regional train to Vipiteno/Sterzing. A short taxi or bus ride from the station brings you directly to the hotel.

Der Bircher is situated in the heart of Freienfeld, surrounded by wide meadows and orchards with unobstructed views of the Dolomites. Shops and traditional inns can be found in nearby Stilfes (3 km) and Sterzing/Vipiteno (5 km). It’s the perfect starting point for hikes, bike tours and discovery excursions throughout the Eisacktal Valley.
